Bharathi School, one of the top schools in Coimbatore, affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), New Delhi, prepares students for the ICSE (Class X) and the ISC (Class XII) examinations.
The CISCE has given guidelines for each subject and year group for the schools to adopt and make the curriculum relevant to the children in their schools. The emphasis is on acquiring and refining skills rather than rote learning.
Every child is a unique, complex learner, rich in potential and curious to engage and negotiate with everything in their environment. The school follows the Reggio Emilia-inspired approach, where children, through active exploration and based on their own interests, direct their learning. Teachers create engaging learning experiences that support the optimum development of the whole child. The school environment encourages the children to have "multiple ways of seeing and multiple ways of being." This approach aims to strengthen the innate potential of the children for all-round development and relationship building with their communities.
The ICSE syllabus covers topics in depth and follows a very practical approach to learning. It is comprehensive and covers all streams with equal importance: Art, Language, Science, Mathematics, and Humanities. It is known for more extensive subject explanations. The significance of analytical skills and practical knowledge is stressed to investigate the entire development of the students. Study of second language (Tamil) is compulsory up to grade 10. Study of third Language (Hindi) is compulsory up to grade 8.
Four groups are offered in ISC (Indian School Certificate - Grades 11 and 12). They are:
Group I: English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science
